Emily Cheadle

Public education shaped my life, and I want to help ensure it remains a place where every child can thrive. I am a daughter of refugee parents, shaped by dedicated educators and a strong community that believed in me and invested in my future.

My husband and I have lived in Port Moody for over a decade and consider ourselves fortunate to raise our family here. Our young son has many years ahead of him in the district, and I am determined to make sure that he and all the children in SD43 have the best opportunities to learn, grow and succeed in a rapidly changing world.

My professional background is in legal contracts. As a paralegal, I spent a decade working in downtown firms before moving into labour relations and working with unions. This experience has given me a strong foundation in collaboration and in navigating complex issues with a practical, thoughtful approach.

I am an active member of the Pleasantside PAC, where I have been volunteering with an amazing group of parents to raise money for a new playground. We are currently engaging with community sponsors and stakeholders to support this project.

I value building strong, lasting relationships, and I am fortunate to have many close friends who work as teachers and education assistants. For more than 20 years, I have continued to volunteer annually at the same music camp I attended as a student. The camp was run by a teacher who became a close friend, and I have had the privilege of staying connected to the program and its community for many years.

Those relationships have given me a genuine appreciation for the dedication educators bring to their work and the impact they have on students. As a trustee, I intend to draw on those relationships while continuing to build new ones, so I can listen to the experiences and concerns of our community and bring those voices forward to the district.
